The father of Netherlands and PSV Eindhoven winger Noa Lang has spoken out after a video of him being punched during a youth team match went viral.
Jeffrey Lang was officiating a clash between Alexandria ’66 and Door Combinatie Verkregen [DCV] when a man marched onto the field and punched him in the face, knocking him to the ground.
Images of the incident went viral on Monday, and both clubs involved have confirmed that it actually took place weeks ago, but they hadn’t seen the pictures until now.
Lang himself, a former semi-pro footballer and boxer, has now commented on the images in an interview with AD.nl.
“He didn’t agree with a decision, I thought ‘we’re going to talk this out’ then out of nowhere he hit me and I went out for eight seconds,” Lang recalled.
“It was a cowardly act, but I don’t care about the blow. I care about the children. They were traumatised.
“He called me politely the next day and apologised a thousand times. We talked it out politely like two men.
“I didn’t file a report either. For me, it’s over now. Again, I’m concerned about the children who were shocked.”
The video show parents rushing on the field after the punch to get between the two men and remove their kids from the pitch.
Alexandria ‘66 board member Rob de Vries has since released a statement, saying: “On Monday, May 12, 2025, a video was shared on various media channels showing an incident that took place at our sports park during a youth tournament. The images are shocking.
“We would like to emphasise that our board knew that an incident had occurred, but until the images appeared we were not informed of the details.
“The images now confirm that this was an extremely serious incident.

DCV also released a statement, saying that the man involved is no longer welcome at the club.
“The images are shocking and that a team from DCV is involved,” the club said. “The incident was reported to us via both the club in question and internal channels.
“Immediately after learning of the incident, the board had a conversation with the person involved.
“We strongly rejected the incident (without seeing the images) and the person involved was informed that he was no longer welcome at DCV.
“The images also only reached us on May 12, while the incident took place a few weeks ago.
Noa Lang re-lit the Dutch title race last time outAFP“DCV is clear: Violence on a sports field is strongly reprehensible, never acceptable and must be condemned at all times, not only by us, but by everyone in amateur sports and beyond.
“In the interest of all other parties involved, we will refrain from further comment, apart from this message.”
Jeffrey Lang, 57, currently runs a successful gym where he trains professional athletes including his son and former Moto3 and Moto2 talent Bo Bendsneyder.
He came to the Netherlands from Suriname when he was ten years old and grew up in Delft and soon began supporting Ajax where son Noa made his professional debut.
Now at rivals PSV, Lang Jnr is involved in a remarkable title fight against his old side who could have clinched the Eredivisie at the weekend.
Defeat for PSV and victory for Ajax would have settled the title, but the Eindhoven side came from two goals down to beat Feyenoord 3-2 thanks to a Lang double.
Lang is becoming a regular for the NetherlandsGettyAjax, meanwhile, surprisingly lost 3-0 away to NEC, meaning their lead is now just a single point with two games to go.
Lang has made 13 appearances for the Dutch national team, including one at the 2022 World Cup, and he’s scored two goals for his country.
