SHEDEUR Sanders revealed an admission regarding what he’ll do when that first NFL paycheck arrives.
The 23-year-old experienced a brutal 2025 NFL Draft slide and was drafted in the fifth round by the Cleveland Browns last month.
Shedeur appeared at the Browns’ rookie minicamp last week and took part in the team’s drills.
After the workouts, the Colorado Buffaloes product was asked about why he picked the number 12.
“It was the best available number for me,” Sanders told reporters.
The quarterback was then asked if he tried to buy the No. 2 – his college number – from wide receiver DeAndre Carter, who rocks the jersey.
“I’m not tryna buy anything,” he said.
“My signing bonus ain’t that high right now.”
Sanders does come from wealth, as he’s the son of Deion Sanders, who’s made tens of millions of dollars and is a multi-millionaire head coach at Colorado.
Still, it appears that he won’t be making a big-time purchase despite being projected to receive a $446,553 signing bonus as part of his four-year, $4.6 million rookie contract with the Browns.
The one thing on Sanders’ mind is to make the roster this summer.
“I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity,” he said.
“I don’t ever focus on the negative or even think about the negative.
“I’ve just got to prove and show what I’m capable of.
“What fuels me is my purpose in life and understanding the route that we’re going to have to take.
“Understanding that I was able to get an opportunity when a lot of people didn’t want to give me an opportunity.
“So that’s what I’m truly thankful for.”
NFL important dates 2025 season
March 12 - Free Agency begins
April 24-26 – NFL Draft in Green Bay, Wisconsin
September 4 – 2025 season opener (TBC vs Eagles)

Sanders will be battling for a roster spot in a crowded quarterback room that consists of fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel, veteran Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and the injured Deshaun Watson.
The Browns will likely place Watson on IR, with Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett currently slated to hold the No. 1 and No. 2 spots on the team.
That leaves Sanders and the third-round pick Gabriel to face off in a quarterback competition during training camp.
