This animated movie follows three generations of women — just not human women! Ruby Gillman (Lana Condor) has always known that she is a kraken living amongst humans, but when she goes into the ocean for the first time to save her crush from drowning, she learns that she, her mother (Toni Collette) and her grandmother (Jane Fonda) are giant krakens, the royal protectors of the entire ocean.
The film artfully combines humor and heart through Ruby's journey as a teenage kraken finding her place in her human and underwater heritage.
