The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has started making plans to resume IPL 2025 after India and Pakistan announced a ceasefire on Saturday, May 10. BCCI vice president Rajeev Shukla said that with the war now over, officials will meet on Sunday, May 11, to discuss the next steps.
Shukla said that the BCCI and IPL officials will try to find the best schedule to complete the rest of the tournament. Notably, a total of 16 matches, including the knockouts, remain to be completed due to the cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan.
BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla was quoted as saying by PTI, “The war has stopped. In the new situation, BCCI office bearers, officials, and the IPL governing council will discuss the matter.”

As reported by ESPNCricinfo, all ten IPL teams have started calling back their overseas players and coaches to India. If things go smoothly and the Indian government gives the green light, the IPL 2025 could restart as early as next weekend, around May 15.
Franchises are now racing to bring back their overseas players, most of whom left India on Friday and Saturday due to the India-Pakistan conflict. Teams have reportedly contacted players and staff, asking them to make their travel plans. Some, already in transit, have been told to stop and wait.
One franchise even asked its coaches to cancel their planned departure on Sunday. Gujarat Titans are in a better position as only Jos Buttler and Gerald Coetzee have left, and they have already made efforts to bring them back quickly for the remainder of the IPL 2025.

Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad set to host the remaining 16 IPL 2025 matches
On the other hand, the BCCI has reportedly selected Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad to host the remaining 16 matches of IPL 2025, including the playoffs. These cities are far from the Pakistan border, making them safer options for resuming the tournament.
Well, players who were part of the PSL are now facing concerns beyond just travel. According to The West Australian report, many of them flew out of an airbase in Islamabad just hours before it was hit by missiles. The experience has left players shaken, making their return to PSL uncertain for now.
The reports said, “Players in Pakistan narrowly avoided being caught up in the drama on Friday, flying out of an airbase in Islamabad hours before it was struck by missiles.”
