Foothill’s girls lacrosse team reached its fifth consecutive CIF-SS Division 1 championship game by beating San Clemente 12-7 in the semifinals Friday at Foothill High.
Brynn Perkins had seven goals and an assist for Foothill (19-2). Ava Pistone had two goals for the Knights and Elle Vickers had nine draw wins. Kayla Agarie had a goal, two assists and five ground balls.
Charlotte Yeskulsky had four goals and caused a turnover for San Clemente. Sophia Yeskulsky had two goals, two assists and 10 draw controls.
The Tritons (18-2) were the South Coast League champions this season and both of their losses were to Foothill.
Foothill will play undefeated Mira Costa in the championship game Friday, May 16, at El Modena High. Mira Costa beat Foothill 19-18 on April 5.
Foothill won three consecutive Division 1 championships from 2021-23 and was the runner-up to Marlborough last season.
In other semifinal games Friday:
Division 2:
El Segundo 13, Huntington Beach 11: Huntington Beach scored four goals in the fourth quarter but fell to El Segundo at home.
Ella Jones and Lolo Pilkington each had three goals for Huntington Beach (8-12). Summer Vandergrift had two goals, an assist, 12 draw wins and four draw controls. Pilkington added five draw controls and Bella Verdone had five saves.
St. Margaret’s 13, San Juan Hills 11: St. Margaret’s prevented San Juan Hills from playing in its second consecutive championship game.
Kate Carr had four saves for St. Margaret’s (15-3). Carr had crucial saves in the second half, including saving an 8-meter free position shot in the final minute.
The Tartans won back-to-back US Lacrosse Southern Section championships in 2018-19 but will make their first CIF-SS championship appearance Saturday, May 17, against El Segundo at El Modena High.
Scarlett Welsome and Grace Burke each scored four goals for St. Margaret’s. Greta Blau scored three goals and Izzy Samluk and Avery Smith each added one.
Sierra Chen had six goals and four draw controls for San Juan Hills (15-7). Melissa Warner had two goals for the Stallions and Lacy Duckwitz had nine saves.
Division 3:
Trabuco Hills 14, Aliso Niguel 4: Seven different players scored goals for Trabuco Hills.
Sam Rynders led Trabuco Hills (11-8) with four goals and an assist. Lydia Hurst had three goals and Maddi Wont added a goal and three assists. Addison Delaney and Haylie Sento each scored two goals. Sydney Lo and Lexi Smith each added a goal.
Trabuco Hills will play Oaks Christian on Saturday, May 17, at El Modena High. It is the first championship appearance for Trabuco Hills.
