CHARLIE Woods suffered a big setback in his hopes to break through into golf’s big time.
The 16-year-old prospect entered qualifying for this year’s US Open at Oakmont in Pennsylvania.
Woods featured in a regional qualifying event in Florida this week.
He was one of more than 10,000 hopefuls aiming to qualify for the event in June.
But the teen star was left disappointed in his quest.
He shot three over par and failed to make the cut.
Woods finished seven shots off the four-under-par needed to progress.
Charlie has featured in events alongside his legendary dad Tiger before.
Woods, 49, is battling to play golf again after another injury setback.
He suffered a torn achilles and underwent surgery in March.
The icon was able to play in TGL, a futuristic event he helped launch in January.
Charlie was in the crowd to watch his dad play in the event.
And the teenager had a laugh at his father’s expense.
Tiger’s low moment came on the second hole – a 582-yard, par-five monster.
His approach shot from 101 yards out soared over the green and into water, leaving the crowd of 1,500 gasping in shock.
Tiger glared down glumly at the ground for a few seconds.
But as the cameras panned to the audience, there was a completely different response from Charlie.

He also opened his hand out in front of him, laughing and appearing to point at his dad.
The 125th US Open will take place from June 12-15 this summer.
Bryson DeChambeau is the reigning champion having beaten Rory McIlroy in a dramatic finish last year.
He won the championship for a second time after a one-stroke victory.
