Ronda Rousey earned 34-second KO in final UFC win then celebrated with Jose Aldo before Conor McGregor grudge match

Ronda Rousey celebrated her final UFC victory in typical Brazilian style.

Rousey knocked out Bethe Correia in her rival’s own country on the first day of August 2015, before linking up with ‘The King of Rio’ Jose Aldo.

It was Rousey’s sixth UFC women’s bantamweight title defence in the main event of UFC 190, which also featured Brazil’s biggest MMA stars like Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua.

She went into the bout undefeated at 12-0 as one of the most dominant champions in the history of the sport.

Both women had produced some intense staredowns in the build-up to their fight, but when the first bell sounded at HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro it was only Rousey who looked like backing it up.

She instantly went on the front foot, swinging a one-two at Correia before following up with a left hand that certainly had her Brazilian opponent on alert.

Rousey kept putting the pressure on and managed to get a hold of Correia in the clinch to unleash a barrage of uppercuts.

The hand speed of ‘Rowdy’ was spectacular as she began teeing off on Correia when the latter found herself pressed up against the cage.

Rousey smelled blood and started to viciously pound her opponent non-stop before a knee and straight right hand floored Correia and the fight was over.

Referee John McCarthy rushed to the scene to throw Rousey out of the way as he called an end to the fight after just 34 seconds.

UFC commentator Joe Rogan was left literally speechless and could only manage an occasional ‘wow’ and ‘oh my goodness.’

He eventually admitted his struggle for words, saying: “I’m speechless, she is just spectacular, she is better than she’s ever been before, and she was already the best – she just keeps getting better.”

Just 24 hours later, Rousey was seen wearing the strips of CR Flamengo (a Brazilian football side in Rio de Janeiro) in attendance at the club’s game against rivals Santos FC.

The then-28-year-old attended the match with her family and was spotted talking to the king of the UFC at the time, Brazilian featherweight champion Aldo.

“Look who’s here and has turned Flamengo! Ronda Rousey has come to Maracana,” Aldo wrote on social media.

At the time, Aldo ruled the UFC’s 145lb division, having won seven consecutive featherweight title bouts in the promotion.

He was the UFC’s first featherweight champion, after the promotion merged with World Extreme Cagefighting, and held the belt for over four years.

However, Aldo’s meeting with Rousey came just four months before he was set to meet Conor McGregor in the Octagon, which turned out to be one of the most famous UFC rivalries of all time.

Aldo wound up getting knocked out by McGregor in 13 seconds and his meeting with Rousey may have put a curse on both fighters.

He returns to action this weekend for the main card of UFC 315 against Aiemann Zahabi in Montreal, Canada.

The pay-per-view card witnesses two title fights as Belal Muhammad defends his welterweight strap against Jack Della Maddalena in the main event, while Valentina Shevchenko puts her women’s flyweight title on the line once again against Manon Fiorot.

Rousey, meanwhile, took an extended break out of action after her victory over Correia, but she was brutally knocked out in her return to the sport by Holly Holm at UFC 193 in November 2015.

After more time out, things went from bad to worse for Rousey as she was finished inside 48 seconds by Amanda Nunes in her next (and last) fight at UFC 207.

That was the last time Rousey appeared inside the Octagon and she hasn’t returned since.

She has teased fans with an MMA return several times, but it is unlikely her passion for the sport will ever comeback.
