Woman wanted for brandishing knife, threatening Boulder school group, skipping court

Boulder police are seeking an Arizona woman who they say missed a court date after brandishing a knife at a school group and threatening them this week.

Alyssa Fate Barger, 31, faces 19 charges of felony menacing and 17 counts of child abuse, according to court records.

Police said in a news release that an arrest warrant for failure to appear was also issued after Barger did not show up for a court hearing Thursday afternoon.

Barger was wielding a knife when she started following two teachers and a group of children in the 1700 block of Broadway shortly before 11 a.m. Monday, police said in the release.

The group walked away, and Barger was arrested later that day. She was released Tuesday on a $5,000 personal-recognizance bond, which was revoked Thursday.

Police said Barger has no fixed address and “limited” ties to Boulder.

Anyone with information about the case or Barger’s whereabouts is asked to call 911 and reference case number 25-04126.
