The Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) has been officially suspended for a week due to the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal confirmed that continuing the tournament under the current circumstances was not right.
Dhumal said that the BCCI and IPL officials are closely monitoring the situation, and they will decide on the future of the remainder of the 2025 season after reassessing conditions in the coming days. A full suspension of the tournament is also being considered, depending on how things unfold.

Arun Dhumal was quoted as saying by CNN-News18, “See, given the situation as of now, we thought it appropriate that it does not make sense to have the tournament going on for a while, and as the situation unfolds in the coming days, we will take a call accordingly.”

He added, “We were considering (full suspension), and we were discussing it with all the stakeholders, and it was thought appropriate to suspend for a week, assess the situation, and then make a final call.”
