buy from amazonOne of the most tedious and mind-numbing cleaning activities has got to be vacuuming. It’s never-ending and you can’t just do one area. Then entire house always needs to be swept. This is why I love robot vacuums. We’ve had several different models in the past few years and each has had their quirks. When eufy released the E20 this year I was excited about it because it’s a 3-in-1 vacuum in addition to being an automated robot.

Unboxing & Set-up
The E20 comes in a very large box but there are very few steps to get it set up. The vacuum is already assembled as is the base station. When you take everything out of the box the only thing you have to do is remove tape and other packaging materials, then attach the rotating side brush. There is a placemat that the base station sits on and it helps the vacuum align itself correctly with the base station for charging and dust collection.
It’s recommended that you place the base station in a place that is unobstructed and easy for the vacuum to get to. Since we’ve had the vacuum we have moved it’s base station three times. The first spot was next to one of our desks in front of an outlet. It lived there for a couple of days until we moved it because the vacuum couldn’t easily get around a recliner that was sitting in front of the base station. We moved it into a corner that it also ended up having trouble with because of a rug’s placement. Finally we moved it so that it lived under a desk. This location has been ideal because the vacuum doesn’t have any issues with getting on or off the base station.
After you get the base station set and place the vacuum on it to charge, you will finish the rest of the installation in the app. You’ll have to allow Bluetooth permissions and connect it to your home network. This part of the process only took a few minutes. The app recognized the vacuum immediately and then I updated the firmware. At this point, I was able to start using the vacuum.
User Experience
For the most part, we have been using the eufy Robot Vacuum 3-in-1 E20 as the robot and not as the stick vacuum. That said, it works really well in any configuration. I love having the flexibility to clean with the power of the E20 as a stick vacuum or handheld tool in places that the robot can get to. For example, we have a chair in one of our rooms that has a rug underneath it (I mentioned it above).
The robot gets caught on the rug because it’s a loose, shag style rug. So, I marked a no-go zone on the map for the robot and when it’s done with the rest of the house, I detach the vacuum from the robot and get that area with the stick attachment. The only thing I would have loved to see is a place for the stick and other hand held attachments to be stored on the base unit.
As far as cleaning performance goes, I don’t have any complaints. The E20 does a great job in standard mode picking up dirt, dust and debris from our floors. We have a combination of carpet (medium pile), ceramic tile, and linoleum in our house. It hasn’t had any trouble going from one surface to the other. There have only been a couple of times when the robot has gotten stuck. It can ‘climb’ over the feet of our desks and it detects obstacles really well. It doesn’t seem like too much gets tangled in the roller, but it does collect hair. I’ve noticed that I have to clean that out every other time the vacuum runs.
One of the features I appreciate about the robot is the automated mapping. When you send it out for mapping, it will detect the different areas of your home quickly as it runs through the house without cleaning. Then when you send it out to clean, it fine tunes the map. If it finds an object in a room, it draws it out in the map as an obstacle. Our living room is a great example of this. There are several large piece of furniture that it avoids.
I’ve found the battery life to be adequate. It doesn’t have to stop mid-cleaning cycle to charge unless it gets stuck somewhere. I think it takes between 1.25 and 1.5 hours to clean our entire house. During that time, the robot returns to the base unit to empty its dust bin twice. Then it starts cleaning where it left off. I haven’t had the vacuum return to base due to a low battery yet. It’s usually under 30% after a cleaning cycle.
The E20 is very low-maintenance from what I’ve found thus far. The filters and parts are easy to replace, and as I mentioned, I need to clean hair off the roller every other time the vacuum runs. It’s easy to pop out and remove the tangles. The vacuum isn’t overly loud until it empties the dust bin. It’s mostly a gentle whirring noise.
The smart features of E20 are solid overall. The app performs well for scheduling, mapping, and remote control. I haven’t had any complaints in those areas. One small issue I noticed was that the manual dust bin empty control wasn’t easy to find at first. It’s labeled “Deep Dust Collection,” which could be clearer. A more straightforward label like “Empty Bin” would be helpful. In terms of connectivity, the vacuum has stayed connected to our WiFi without any issues since the initial setup. The app interface itself is very intuitive and easy to navigate.
