NORTHGLENN, Colo. (KDVR) — It's an incident caught on camera that one Northglenn man couldn't believe.
A DoorDash delivery driver was stealing his packages right from his front door while dropping off food to his neighbor. The entire encounter took less than 30 seconds.
"So, they dropped it off at the door per usual. I never had problems before," said Alex Teufel.
Alex is referring to his Pokémon cards he has been selling online to help make extra money. They were delivered just before 4:30 p.m. on April 21 in the 12000 block of Claude Court in Northglenn.
"I came out two hours after it had been delivered and it was gone," he said.
Alex learned his neighbors had ordered food through DoorDash before the situation. His neighbor's surveillance camera appeared to catch the delivery guy not just dropping off the food, but then swiping his package in the process..
“It was a little strange. The video, especially," said Alex. "It's one thing if it's word of mouth.”
Alex says he reported the situation to police and his neighbors shared the encounter with DoorDash, but there's been no resolution.
“As far as I know, the neighbors that got the order, they weren’t given much information," said Alex. "Just the first name of the driver and they will follow up.”
He estimates the packages were worth around $300.
“So, nothing like extremely detrimental, but more than I can afford to lose," said Alex.
‘It’s unacceptable’: Aurora speed racing task force cracks down on illegal speed racingReflecting on the situation, Alex knows he may not be able to retrieve his items, but he wants to make sure to share his story so others are vigilant.
“It seems pretty easy for them to do it, but then again, there’s also bad apples," said Alex. “I hope that maybe this brings like, hey, wake up these guys, not all of them are doing the right things when they are doing their jobs.”
We reached out to DoorDash, and a spokesperson sent this statement.
“The video clearly shows this individual brazenly doing the wrong thing and stealing. We’ve deactivated the Dasher account and will reach out to the neighbor to help make things right. We have no tolerance for stealing or theft.”
