Jannik Sinner’s coach has revealed the tennis icon is dreaming about becoming a Formula 1 driver in the future.
The world number one is already a three-time Grand Slam champion at just 23-years-old.
However, the Italian could one day swap the court for the track in a radical career change.
Sinner’s coach Simone Vagnozzi has revealed his protégé is ‘crazy’ about Formula 1, which he often attends in person.
His passion for the sport even saw Sinner sign a partnership deal to become a ‘Friend of F1’.
Speaking to Sky Sports Italy, Vagnozzi explained: “People have no idea how competitive Jannik is at everything, from cards to go-karts… at everything.
“If we’re playing tennis and I score a point, he looks at me with resentment.
“You have no idea how much he’d like to be a Formula One driver, he’s really crazy about the sport, it’s his dream! Be careful, he might try it sooner or later at the end of his tennis career.”
Sinner is set to make his return to the court this week after serving a three-month suspension for a failed drugs test.
It will be his first competitive action since winning the Australian Open in January.
Asked what to expect on his comeback, Vagnozzi added: “For a tennis player, when you’re healthy and can’t compete, it’s the hardest thing. Jannik is a competitive animal.
“Without that, he felt empty. Now he knows he can get back to doing what he loves.

There will be a bit of a struggle, he’ll have to get dirty, sweat, win, maybe not perfectly at first, and slowly find his rhythm again.”
Sinner’s ban, which spanned from February to May, also prohibited him from attending events from other sports as a spectator.
The tennis ace has admitted this proved difficult, stating: “The toughest part was that in the beginning I couldn’t watch any other sport really, in real life.
“I don’t know how many know this but watching a simple football match in a stadium, I couldn’t go there to watch it.
“I wanted to support my friends in cycling or motorsport – I couldn’t go there.”
Sinner will make his return on home soil on Friday at the Italian Open in Rome.
He is the top seed for the tournament, with Mariano Navone his opponent in the second round.
After not appearing at the event in 2024, Sinner will be hoping to outdo his best performance – a run to the quarter-finals three years ago.
