Ed Sheeran is going back to his roots – grass roots – to play at the ground of his beloved football team Ipswich Town.
The singer-songwriter, who is a minority owner of the club, announced on social media last week that he would be fulfilling a lifelong ambition.
He said: “It’s always been such a dream to play Portman Road that I kept badgering the Ipswich Town team but because I tour so much and football is very rigid in their schedule I always missed the opportunity to play it.
“Fast forward to now, having become an investor in Ipswich Town, I got a bit more sway and asked if I could launch my new record there, as a one-off weekend of shows, and they agreed.
“I play all around the world, in such amazing stadiums, but nothing means as much as this one here.”
We take a look at how to get tickets to the concerts and who to expect in the line-up each night.

Sheeran has announced he will be playing three nights at the home of Ipswich Town FC, Portman Road in July this year.
They are:
Friday 11 July 2025 Saturday 12 July 2025 Sunday 13 July 2025The singer said one of his first ever concerts as a child was at the football ground in Portman Road, when he saw Elton John play with support from James Blunt.
Later in life, as a teenager, he started playing in pubs and bars in the town but never at the ground.
Raised in Framlingham, Suffolk, he said he had hoped to play at the venue in 2019 when he finished his Divide tour, but was thwarted by football fixtures.
Now his wish has finally been granted, and he described it as a “true homecoming”, which would be a “special weekend of shows with a killer line-up”
Tickets for the three nights are expected to be in very high demand.
Sheeran urged fans to act quickly, as he said: “These tickets will go very, very quickly, so please make sure you sign up early if you wanna come.
“I can’t wait to do these shows.
” It’ll be a weekend I’ll remember for the rest of my life.
“See you there gang.”
