Denver weather: Rain and mountain snow Tuesday on a Pinpoint Weather Alert Day

DENVER (KDVR) — A slow-moving storm system is making its way to Colorado and bringing rain and snow to Denver weather and most of Colorado.

There will be scattered showers of rain and snow Monday evening before a better chance of soggy conditions arrives on Tuesday. The Pinpoint Weather team, Colorado’s Most Accurate Forecast, is still predicting up to an inch of beneficial rain for metro Denver and the Front Range. While the mountains will have heavy wet snow with some slick roads, especially over higher passes.

    Weather tonight: Few showers and breezy

    There will be a chance for scattered showers and a rumble of thunder Monday evening. There will also be some snow showers in the mountains. Most of this will occur during the early evening before there is a lull overnight.

    It will stay cloudy and cool with readings in the 40s across metro Denver and the plains of Colorado. It will be colder with 30s in the mountains and even some below freezing lows.

    Weather tomorrow: Soggy with rain and snow

    Showers will return early on Tuesday and change to more widespread rain during the afternoon. It may turn heavy at times heading into the evening. There could be some standing water or ponding on the area's roads.

    There are travel advisories in the higher foothills and mountains west of Denver. Roads will be slushy in the afternoon hours and could be slick over some higher passes above 9,000 feet.

    Looking ahead: Drying out and warming up quickly

    Showers will start to end through the morning hours on Wednesday. That will be followed by a low chance for a stray shower or two to end the work week.

    Temperatures will quickly warm over the weekend, reaching the upper 70s on Saturday and touching 80 degrees on Sunday. The warm and mainly dry weather pattern will continue into early next week.
