Country music lovers might agree that Morgan Wallen is one of the coolest guys in the industry. Unsurprisingly, the "Me to Me" singer announced his brand new tune in a cool-as-can-be fashion, nonchalantly taking to his Instagram story to share the news.
Today (May 5), Wallen shared a selfie-style video to his Instagram story while driving, announcing that "Superman" — the final single before his upcoming album, I'm The Problem, hits all music streaming services — will finally be released to the public on Friday (May 9).
“Whats going on? Just wanted to let y’all know, I got a song coming out Friday. One last one before the album, and it’s a song I wrote for my son. It’s called ‘Superman,’ and it’s special to me for obvious reasons. I wanted it to have it’s own moment, and hopefully that’s what this will accomplish," he gushed.
Wallen concluded, "Album coming soon, song coming Friday, talk to y’all later," and naturally, country music lovers could not contain their excitement.
@morganwallenBeen trying for a long time to write a song I loved to my son. None of them ever feel good enough because of how perfect I want something like this to be. And not saying this is perfect, but I am very proud of it. Here is a clip, It’s called “Superman”
♬ Superman - morganwallen"Superman" has been in the works for quite a while, with the "Single As She Was" singer making waves on TikTok back in February when he teased the tune to his 5.9 million followers. "Been trying for a long time to write a song I loved to my son. None of them ever feel good enough because of how perfect I want something like this to be. And not saying this is perfect, but I am very proud of it. Here is a clip, It’s called 'Superman,'" he captioned a 58-second snippet of the song.
"Can’t wait for the full version," one fan wrote in the comment section of the post, while another added, "Absolutely amazing! So touching and special. Morgan Wallen number one dad."
Fans have dissected the lyrics ever since, obsessing over the track that tugs on their heartstrings. "Now and then, that bottle’s my kryptonite / Brings a man of steel down to his knees / Don't always know my wrong from right / Sometimes, I'm my own worst enemy / No, I don't always save the day / But you know, for you, I'll always try / I do the best I can / But Superman's still just a man sometimes," he sings in the chorus.
For those who are unfamiliar, Wallen became a father on July 10, 2020, when his son, Indigo Wilder was born. Wallen shares Indigo with his ex-fiancée, KT Smith, with Smith giving birth after she and the "Sunrise" singer had split.
