Workshop focuses on women, well-being
Leadership Mahoning Valley will present “Maintaining Work / Life Balance — Is it Possible?” 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at The Lake Club, 1140 Paulin Road, Poland.
Maria Stevens, owner of Stevens Coaching and Consulting, will be the guest speaker.
In today’s fast-paced world, women often find themselves juggling multiple roles — professionals, caregivers, partners and leaders — without adequate time to prioritize their own well-being. This workshop is designed for women seeking practical tools to achieve a healthier work-life balance and avoid the physical and mental consequences of chronic stress.
Participants will explore the hidden costs of imbalance; how to identify early warning signs of mental and physical exhaustion; strategies to set boundaries and prioritize self-care; and time management and energy alignment techniques tailored for women’s lives.
Other presenters will include Ruth M. Bowdish, managing director for On Demand Occupational Medicine; Dr. Fareedah Goodwin-Capers, Mercy Health Physicians; and Dr. Francine Packard, inpatient and community mental health expert.

Valley sheriff’s offices each get $30K grants
The sheriff’s offices in Trumbull and Mahoning counties each received $30,000 grants for their drug task forces.
The funding from the RecoveryOhio Law Enforcement Fund will help officers identify high-level drug traffickers, dismantle large drug trafficking organizations, interrupt the flow of money and drugs from international cartels, and prevent the sale of illegal narcotics.
More than $2.2 million in grants from the fund were awarded to 34 drug task forces throughout Ohio on Friday.
Reflections on 1985 tornado sought
The Tribune Chronicle is seeking stories about the May 31, 1985, tornado that destroyed Newton Falls and damaged other communities.
This year is the 40th anniversary of the deadly twister, which also went through Niles, Hubbard and into Pennsylvania.
The newspaper in particular is looking for stories from people who took shelter during the storm, knew someone who was injured or killed, or had their property damaged. These stories will be included in a series of vignettes that will be published in the newspaper’s May 31-June 1 weekend edition.
Photos also are being sought.
If you would like to be included in the story, contact Metro Editor Marly Reichert at 330-841-1737 or via email at [email protected].
Veterans sought for annual series
If you are a veteran or know someone who is a veteran, the Tribune Chronicle would like to feature them in our weekly veteran profile series, which runs each Monday from Memorial Day through Veterans Day.
The veteran must live in Trumbull County and be willing to be interviewed about their time in basic training and active duty, and be willing to have their photo taken. They do not need to have been sent overseas to be featured in this series. Veterans of all branches are welcome.
This is the 23rd year for the Tribune Chronicle’s annual series.
To suggest a veteran, email Metro Editor Marly Reichert at [email protected] or call her at 330-841-1737.
