24 in 24: Last Chef Standing season 2 returned for episodes 2 and 3 on Sunday, May 4, and it jumped right into the head-to-head battle that it teased at the end of the premiere episode — the two chefs who chose "breakroom" instead of competing in the first head-to-head battle now had to face off. Those chefs were Stephanie Izard and Lawrence "LT" Smith.
Following that, the show focused on "Simplicity" and "Resourcefulness" with a noodle dish challenge. Read on to find out which chefs were eliminated, but beware of spoilers.
Who went home on episodes 2 and 3 of 24 in 24: Last Chef Standing season 2?
Chef Lawrence "LT" Smith was sent home after his head-to-head battle with Izard. Izard also won the Golden Knife away from Kevin Lee.
The next challenge was for each chef to make their best noodle dish using only the number of ingredients they correctly identified after a blind taste test. The chef eliminated on the noddle dish challenge was Laurence Louie, one of the newest TV chefs in the competition.
The face-off between Smith and Izard gave them peanut butter, jelly and bread, and they were tasked with making a fancy PB&J lunch. They were only allowed to grab three extra ingredients out of the pantry.
Izard grabbed apples, cheddar cheese and onion to create a soup and sandwich lunch, while Smith grabbed miso, anchovies and lettuce to create a PB&J Caesar salad. Their guest judge was Graham Elliot.
After Smith was went home, the remaining 12 chefs were made to blindly taste a pasta dish to see if they could identify 7 out of 12 total ingredients (they were not made to identify pasta, salt, pepper, butter or olive oil). The 7 ingredients were arugula, basil, garlic, sun-dried tomatoes, lemon juice, pistachios and parmesan.
After they guessed, for the next challenge, which was to make their best noodle dish, they were only allowed to use the number of ingredients that they correctly identified. Most chefs got 3 or 4 ingredients, but Kathleen O'Brien-Price, Nini Ngyuen and Kelsey Murphy each got 5. They were the top guessers.
For winning the Golden Knife, Izard got one extra ingredient, bringing her total up to 3, and she got to take one away from someone, so she took one away from Lee since he had already won the Golden Knife. The rules stiplulated that these ingredients would not count toward their total: pasta, salt, pepper, butter and olive oil, nor would any ingredients they used to make their own pasta.
The winner of the noodle dish challenge was Jonathon Sawyer, who won $2400 and the Golden Knife.
