STEADFAST King Charles is “looking forward” to a full week of 80th anniversary VE Day events, say aides.
His Majesty will join family members on the Buckingham Palace balcony today to watch a Red Arrows fly-past.
He will move on from son Harry’s outburst to honour the nation’s World War Two heroes.
A Palace aide said: “The King, Queen and other members of the Royal Family are much looking forward to the week’s VE Day events.
“They will unite with the nation and those across the Commonwealth and wider world to celebrate, commemorate and give thanks to the wartime generation.”
War heroes were honoured at Windsor Castle last week — ahead of a two-minute silence to mark the anniversary.
Charles and Queen Camilla hosted some of our bravest military veterans, leaving Prince William “in awe”.
The Government announced the country will pause at noon on Thursday in a show of appreciation for our World War Two heroes.
The two-minute silence will be followed by a service at Westminster Abbey attended by Charles and Camilla.
Recipients of the Victoria and George Crosses were honoured at Windsor by the King and Queen, as well as the Prince of Wales.
The oldest was Keith Payne, 92, awarded the VC in Vietnam for saving 40 men under heavy mortar fire in 1969.
He flew over especially from Australia.
William told them: “I am in awe of all of you.”
