Arizona Diamondbacks southpaw Eduardo Rodriguez put his previous start behind him to hold the Philadelphia Phillies to three runs on five hits in 5.1 innings on Sunday.
Rodriguez struck out lead-off hitter Trea Turner in five pitches, a sign of things to come as he would finish with 10 punchouts. He has had double-digit strikeouts 11 times before, including 12 on April 5, his best mark in a Diamondback uniform.
Bryce Harper was the next hitter up and he made it count with a 362-foot solo shot to left. Rodriguez was sure to make the strikeouts the prevailing occurrence on the day, rather than runs.
