Leeds chairman confirms future of boss Daniel Farke – 24 hours after Championship title glory

Daniel Farke will be Leeds’ manager in the Premier League next season.

That’s according to the club’s chairman Paraag Marathe, who has commented on the German’s future amid intense speculation he could depart despite securing Promotion from the Championship.

Leeds had reportedly been weighing up whether to keep Farke in charge for their top-flight return.

His side clinched the title and reached 100 points by beating Plymouth on Saturday.

Chairman Marathe has now confirmed Farke will remain at the helm for next season.

The American told BBC Radio Leeds: “I’m very excited to run it back with Daniel and collaborate with him.

“I’m under no illusions that it is going to be easy. The past two seasons the three promoted teams came straight back down but we have something they don’t have, we have Daniel Farke first of all.”

When asked if he had any question marks over the manager, Marathe added: “I have ended the speculation. He is my man.”

Farke has been in charge at Elland Road since 2023, guiding the club to the play-off final in his first season as boss.

His previous two promotions with Norwich both ended in disappointment, though.

The Canaries were relegated after one season in 2020 before Farke was sacked 11 matches into their 2021/22 Premier League campaign.

However, he is set to be backed in the transfer market by Leeds’ owners this summer.

Marathe explained: “Together we are going to build the best squad we can, with every penny we are allowed to spend to be competitive in the Premier League.

“We are going to attack the transfer market and it’s something I’m really excited about.”

He also hailed Farke’s calming influence around the club, continuing: “He is such a calming force – presence would be an understatement.

“He really has a superpower that way. He told you all he was 100% confident we were going to the Prem after the draw with Swansea, and he believed it and I love him for it.

“He has that conviction and belief and I told him privately that I was looking forward to moving forward together, but I didn’t feel like it was my time to speak because someone wanted to put out a rumour.”

Farke’s Leeds contract still has two years remaining, with his deal not set to expire until the summer of 2027.

His third season in charge will begin in the top-flight in August as Leeds return after a two-year hiatus.

The Whites’ most recent stint in the Premier League lasted three seasons before relegation on the final day in 2023.
