Who’s in the market for a 3D printer that boasts a sleek design, quiet operation, easy-to-use interface, and extreme reliability? I know I was. Let’s take a dive into this Anycubic Kobra S1 printer and ACE Pro to see if you’ll want it as badly as I did.

The Anycubic Kobra S1 Combo is a high-speed, multi-color 3D printer that has been making waves in the 3D printing community for its CoreXY structure, AI-powered monitoring, and multi-filament printing capabilities. Designed to compete with premium models like those from Bambu Lab, the Kobra S1 Combo offers exceptional speed, precision, and versatility at a more accessible price point.

    Design & Build Quality.

The Kobra S1 Combo features a fully enclosed design, which helps maintain a controlled printing environment. Unlike some competitors that use glass enclosures, the S1 opts for plastic doors and lids, making it lighter but slightly noisier. The large 4.3-inch touchscreen is a standout feature, offering an intuitive interface that improves usability compared to smaller screens found on other models. You will also find that on the Kobra S1 you have a very well-illuminated work area, and that is thanks to a bright LED light inside the enclosure that you can turn on remotely or on the touch panel. To pair with that light, you are also given a live feed camera that watches your build plate, which you can view while away from home to keep an eye on your prints.

    Printing Performance.

One of the biggest selling points of the Kobra S1 Combo is its multi-color printing capability. The ACE Pro unit allows for four-color printing, and when combined with a second unit, it can expand to eight colors. The 320°C hotend enables printing with a variety of filaments, including ABS, ASA, PETG, and TPU, while the 120°C heated bed ensures strong adhesion and reduces warping.

    Speed & Precision.

With a CoreXY motion system, the printer achieves high-speed printing without sacrificing accuracy. The flow compensation feature helps minimize material overflow at corners, leading to smoother prints. Additionally, AI-based monitoring detects printing issues and halts the process to prevent material waste, making it a smart and efficient choice for both beginners and professionals. The printer boasts a maximum printing speed of 600mm/s, thanks to its CoreXY motion system, which ensures high-speed printing without sacrificing accuracy.

    Software & Connectivity.

The Anycubic App allows for remote control and one-click printing, making it convenient for users who want to start prints from anywhere. The printer supports USB and WLAN connectivity, eliminating the need for microSD cards. Market reception has been overwhelmingly positive, with the Kobra S1 Combo winning the Red Dot Design Award for its sleek engineering and selling over 40,000 units in its debut season.

    Multi-color printing.

One of its standout features is its multi-color printing capability, powered by the ACE Pro unit, which allows for four-color printing and can be expanded to eight colors with an additional unit. This makes it an excellent choice for users who want to create vibrant, detailed, and dynamic prints without the need for post-processing or manual painting.

    Price and availability.

You can currently find the AnyCubic Kobra S1 Combo on their main website for a sale price of $699.99 with a normal list price of $829.99.

Or if you prefer you can go to Amazon and find it for a sale price of $649.99 with a normal listing price of $819.99.

    User experience.

Are you new to 3D printers and not sure what to buy, or do you have some print time on a different machine and are just looking for something better or different? We are going to go over my thoughts on this Anycubic printer and see how it stacks up against my Bambu Labs A1. When you’re choosing a printer to fit your needs, there are a few things that would be extremely important to pay attention to.

One being the print size, is this printer big enough to carry out the designs you plan on making? It’s easier to have a big build plate and only use a small portion of it than to have a small build plate and then need or want a bigger one, so do keep that in mind! Now, aside from size.

Another important aspect is software. Now, I’m not just talking about the chips they put inside to make it work, but the things the engineers implemented into them to make your experience using the device smooth and simple for all. With things like active AI to watch your printing quality, auto bed leveling, high printing speeds up to 600mm/s, built-in maintenance reminders on when to lubricate the axes, fans on the hot end and in the chamber for materials that require extra cooling that you can manually turn on via the app or the main screen, or you can have them set to power on when the temperature reaches a certain level, or depending on what you’re printing, you could code them into turning on at certain times during your print to help with adhesion and other factors to ensure you’re getting the best possible print quality you can.

My next factor I’d put into consideration when making a purchase is going to be the quality and the design of the printer. If I’m spending several hundred dollars on a 3D printer, I not only want something that works impeccably but would also like something that looks the part. When you take a look at the S1, you’ll see that they certainly had that in mind when they finalized their design. You will find a sleek silver-grey plastic exterior, silver hardware with a smoked front door and top for easy viewing of your prints. Inside, you will see a foam seal to keep the door sealed to help with not only sound but also smell. One thing people who have bed slingers haven’t thought about is that while they are running, you are melting plastic, and small particles are flying through your air, contaminating your space. You will notice an odor due to that as well. Well, inside the S1, you have an active charcoal filtration system to help ensure that the air you are breathing is as clean as before you brought home your new 3D printer.

Now, the last thing I want to point out about what you factor into the printer you choose is price, and yes, that matters to everyone. You want to know what you’re paying for, and Anycubic has put together an amazing machine with a price point that is extremely competitive when compared to other name brand manufacturers like Creality and Bambu Labs.

Now that you have decided to go with your Amazing new Anycubic S1 Combo, we will go through exactly what the setup procedure looks like, from cutting the first piece of tape on the box to pulling your test print off the build plate.

When I received my package from FedEx, I knew what I was getting; what I didn’t know was how big the box was going to be. And there was only one, which was slightly confusing as I received the combo, meaning it should have come with the ACE Pro. The four-color, self-drying, self-contained filament spool holder for your printer. We will talk more about that later!

I already had a place on my desk I was planning to put this together on, so out of the box and onto my desk it went as I unsheathed it from its foam barrier and protective plastic. Now that I had the printer out of the box and on my desk, it was time to start assembling, and that meant reading the instructions!!! On a machine like this, it is very important to follow the steps when it comes to setting up your new printer.

That being said, I started going through the instructions and following directions as I was going, hoping that my setup would be an easy experience as I was very excited to get this printing! Anycubic has been so kind as to supply you with all the necessary tools to get her unboxed and ready for printing. Now that I have read the instructions, it was time to start taking the inside of the printer apart. This part scared me, as breaking something could be a nightmare. I was pleasantly surprised to see red arrows inside of the printer as indicated in the booklet as the screws that needed to be removed in order to get the ace bro box out as well as the build plate protectors during transit. The red arrows were a comforting token from the manufacturer at Anycubic. Not only are they making sure your new printer is safe, but they are also clearly indicating to you what needs to be done so you can accomplish this on your own.

Now that I have the ACE pro out of the box and ready to go, I finished up pulling the plastic pieces and foam from the inside of the box. The next steps are incredibly easy; all you need to do is run the plastic tubing from your ACE pro to the back of the printer using the provided holders as provided. Now let’s plug everything in! Truthfully, the unboxing and startup on such a complex machine was way easier than I was ever expecting. Between the flawless color touchscreen with its amazing responsiveness and the user-friendly hints and prompts, you should be up and running in about 30-60 mins.

Now for the even easier part, open your app store on your phone or computer and download the Anycubic app, front here you will be brought through a series of tasks to set up your printer on your wifi network and link it to your phone and home computer so you can print remotely or at home, this process took about 10-15 minutes and when completed the S1 printer and the ACE pro both needed as firmware update.

Now that you’re all set up, it’s time to load some filament into your ACE Pro, and I honestly couldn’t believe how easy that is! Literally, all you need to do is place your roll in the proper direction, feed a few inches into the desired placement hole, and it will self-feed into the tubing. After you have them loaded, you can go into the settings on your beautiful touch screen or on your smart device and change the color to coordinate with the slot you have placed them in.

My final thoughts and verdict on the Anycubic Kobra S1 Combo.

If there’s one 3D printer that has completely blown me away, it’s the Anycubic Kobra S1 Combo. From the moment I set it up, I knew I was in for a treat. This machine is a masterpiece of engineering, speed, and versatility.

One of the biggest reasons I love the Kobra S1 Combo is its sheer speed. The CoreXY structure allows it to print at an astonishing 600mm/s, which means I can complete complex projects in a fraction of the time that traditional printers take. Watching it effortlessly glide through layers with precision is like witnessing art in motion, all while being half as violent and quiet as my other 3D printers.

Let’s talk about one of its best features, the multi-color capability. With the ACE Pro unit, I can print in four colors, and when I expand it, I get eight-color printing without dealing with manual filament swaps or messy multi-material systems. The transition between colors is smooth and seamless, producing vibrant and detailed prints that look absolutely stunning.

Another thing I am excited about with the Kobra S1 Combo is its intelligent AI monitoring. Gone are the days of babysitting prints and worrying about failures—if something goes wrong, the AI detects it and pauses the process, saving filament and frustration. Plus, the flow compensation and resonance damping ensure that prints come out flawless, free from artifacts and layer shifts.

The 4.3-inch touchscreen is a dream to use, making navigation incredibly intuitive. The remote printing using the Anycubic app is another game-changer, allowing me to control prints from anywhere. The machine’s USB & WLAN connectivity eliminates the need for microSD cards, adding an extra layer of convenience.

The Anycubic Kobra S1 Combo has exceeded every expectation I had for it. Whether it’s the speed, precision, multi-color capabilities, or AI-driven automation, everything about this printer screams innovation and quality. It has turned 3D printing into an effortless and exciting experience, and I genuinely can’t imagine working without it.

If you’re looking for a top-tier, multi-color, high-speed 3D printer that feels like it’s from the future, the Kobra S1 Combo is it. 9/10! The only reason it’s not a 10/10 is because the app could use some refinement and updating. They are so close to matching Bambu Labs’ easy-to-use interface but just not quite there yet!
