Justis Huni has been announced as the replacement fighter for Fabio Wardley following Jarrell Miller’s withdrawal.
Miller was due to face Wardley at Ipswich Town’s home of Portman Road on June 7 but has now pulled out due to a shoulder injury.
Queensbury Promotions announced on Wednesday night that a new opponent would be confirmed within the following 48 hours.
Wardley has now learned that he will fight Australian boxer Huni, who has a professional record of 12-0 since his debut in 2020.
Huni last fought Shaun Potgieter in January and won by TKO to retain his WBO Global heavyweight title.
The 26-year-old also won the vacant IBF Pan Pacific heavyweight title.
Wardley and Huni will fight for the WBA Interim World Heavyweight Title next month.
Reports of Miller’s withdrawal emerged on Tuesday, with Queensbury chief Frank Warren addressing the speculation on talkSPORT.
When asked if he had a replacement in mind, Warren said: “I haven’t. I haven’t at the moment.
“We have to put our thinking caps on and move quickly, as we always do. It would be frustrating, you know, and it’d be very unfortunate. Fabio is such a nice guy.
“He’s a brilliant, brilliant ambassador for boxing. He’s a lovely fella, and I wanted him to have his moment at Portman Road. To get Ipswich fans’ support.
“And the fans have turned out and drove in buying tickets for him.”
