Mikey Gray pitched a two-hit shutout for Trabuco Hills in a 6-0 win over Capistrano Valley on Wednesday in a crucial game in the South Coast League championship race.
Trabuco Hills (19-7-1, 8-3) can clinch at least a share of the league title with a win Friday over the Cougars (11-14-1, 2-8-1). The Mustangs are tied with Aliso Niguel atop the league standings and a win for either team Friday would clinch a share of the league title.
Gray had 10 strikeouts for the Mustangs and also went 2 for 2 with one RBI. Evan Hall went 2 for 2 with a stolen base and three RBIs and Brady Meade scored two runs.
Also in the South Coast League:
Aliso Niguel 4, Tesoro 2: Vanderbilt signee Cooper Flemming went 2 for 2 with a home run and a double in Aliso Niguel’s win.
Aliso Niguel (21-6, 8-3) can clinch a share of the league championship with a win Friday against Tesoro.
Connor Etnire had a hit and one RBI and his brother Carson Etnire also drove in a run. Chad Alderman allowed two runs in four innings to earn the win. Andrew Watson had two strikeouts in the seventh inning as he earned a save.
Chase Vlahos hit a home run for Tesoro (5-20, 4-7) and had two RBIs.
In the Sunset League:
Huntington Beach 3, Edison 0: Long Beach State signee Trevor Goldenetz had two hits, including a triple, stole a base and had one RBI for Huntington Beach (21-4, 14-2).
Jared Grindlinger pitched four shutout innings with two hits allowed and three strikeouts to get the win. Ethan Porter pitched a clean seventh inning to get the save. Trent Grindlinger had two hits and one RBI.
Newport Harbor 4, Marina 3: Gavin Guy had three hits, including a home run, in Newport Harbor’s win.
Adam Martin and Ryan Williams each had two hits and Martin drove in a run. Brooks Francis went 2 for 2 with one RBI. Tyler Clark pitched five innings in a winning effort for Newport Harbor (21-6, 13-4), and Keaton Anderson had three strikeouts in two innings for the save.
Luke Pratali hit a home run for Marina (9-18, 2-15).
Los Alamitos 7, Fountain Valley 4: Tyler Smith hit a home run for Los Alamitos (17-8-2, 10-7).
Nate Walker went 2 for 2 with a double and one RBI. Kaden Carrion had a triple and drove in two runs. Devin Porch drove in two runs and Rowan Shelley hit two doubles.
Tyler Peshke hit a home run, a double and had two RBIs for Fountain Valley (14-11, 8-8). Josh Grack went 3 for 3 with one RBI.
In the Trinity League:
Santa Margarita 6, Servite 2: Brennan Bauer pitched a complete game for Santa Margarita (14-12, 6-8) with six hits allowed.
Gavin Spiridonoff went 2 for 3 with a triple, a stolen base and two RBIs. Warren Gravely IV drove in two runs and Blake Ankrum hit a triple.
Miles Scott hit a double, a triple and had one RBI for Servite (14-12, 5-9). Hayden Woodson had two hits and drove in a run.
In the Sea View League:
San Clemente 5, El Toro 1: San Clemente extended its winning streak to 11 games.
Mike Erspamer drove in two runs for San Clemente (17-9, 9-2) and Cade Cerone drove in a run. Sean Chetakian allowed four hits over five innings.
Kenny Park had two hits with one RBI for El Toro (14-13, 5-6) and Nathan Broesamle hit a double.
San Juan Hills 5, Mission Viejo 4: Colbie Corpuz had two hits with one RBI for San Juan Hills (13-12, 5-6) to help the Stallions snap a four-game losing streak.
Tanner Kessler drove in a run for the Stallions and Garrett Gandolfo allowed one earned run in five innings.
Max Osika and Jacob Powley drove in runs for Mission Viejo (12-15, 4-7).
In the Crestview League:
Villa Park 6, Foothill 4: Jack McGuire pitched five no-hit innings with seven strikeouts for Villa Park.
Val Lopez drove in three runs for Villa Park (20-5, 6-3) and Aidan Young went 2 for 4 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Dominic Gutierrez had two hits with a double, a stolen base and one RBI.
Evan Kim had two RBIs for Foothill (16-10, 5-6) and Gavin Lauridsen had six strikeouts in 4⅓ innings.
El Modena 2, El Dorado 0: Fausto Aguirre scattered eight hits over six shutout innings for El Modena (11-15, 2-7).
Matthew Gutierrez drove in two runs. Adrian Perez and Weston Abbey hit doubles.
Logan Steenburgen allowed no earned runs in six innings and had three strikeouts for El Dorado (18-7, 4-5). Lorenzo Favela had two hits, including a double.
In the Empire League:
Fullerton 4, Laguna Hills 0: Garrett Wightman pitched a one-hit shutout for Fullerton (17-8-1, 8-2).
Miguel Velasquez hit a home run and Christian Robinson had a triple with one RBI.
Christian Sagaty pitched a complete game for Laguna Hills (13-11, 3-6).
In the North Hills League:
Sonora 3, Troy 1: Robby Blaine had seven strikeouts and pitched a complete game for Sonora.
Ryan Lietzau had three hits with one RBI for Sonora (15-9, 6-3). Caleb Orr and Elijah Pasillas each hit a double.
Braden Hawkins pitched a complete game for Troy (16-8, 4-5) and Nico Lopez drove in a run.
Sunny Hills 6, Esperanza 3: Meteo Ramirez hit a home run, a double and drove in three runs for Sunny Hills (5-19, 3-8).
Andre Katayama went 4 for 4 and scored three runs and Cameron Morris went 3 for 3. Andrew Choi had three RBIs and had eight strikeouts in a winning effort on the mound.
Bishop Thomas drove in two runs for Esperanza (9-15, 2-7).
In the Freeway League:
Crean Lutheran 7, La Habra 2: Ian McDermott and Davis Rutten each had two hits and two RBIs for Crean Lutheran (17-8, 6-3).
Brady McKay went 3 for 4 and scored three runs. Blake Armstrong allowed one run in five innings to get the win.
Spencer Carty hit a double for La Habra (16-9, 6-3) and Jonah Mayo went 2 for 3 with one RBI.
Pacifica 9, Yorba Linda 4: Pacifica scored nine runs in the sixth inning in a home win over Yorba Linda.
Joshua Pearman went 2 for 3 with a double, stolen base and one RBI for Pacifica (7-17, 2-7). Jensen Kinkade drove in three runs and Anthony Rodriguez went 3 for 3 with two RBIs.
Michael Talbott had a double with two RBIs for Yorba Linda (7-19, 2-9).
