Alabama lands impact WAC freshman to transfer portal class

Nate Oats is looking to rebuild his Alabama roster after falling just short of another Final Four appearance this past season. On Wednesday, the Crimson Tide picked up another piece for the 2025-26 roster in the form of a standout freshman contributor.

The player is Keitenn Bristow, a 6-foot-8 forward out of WAC program Tarleton State. Bristow played for former Kentucky and Texas A&M head coach Billy Gillispie, appearing in 23 games as a true freshman.

Despite missing 9 games, Bristow was named the WAC Freshman of the Year while averaging 11.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.1 steals. He also shot 46% from the floor and nearly 80% on free throws to go with 32.8% from 3-point range.

Alabama has to replace some very key pieces to replace from recent seasons, including key forward Mouhamed Dioubate, one of the top bench contributors for Oats. While not a true comparison, there are some similarities in the physical makeup and play of both Dioubate and Bristow.

Overall, Bristow is the 4th transfer portal commitment for Alabama this offseason, joining Jalil Bethea, Noah Williamson and Taylor Bol Bowen. We’ll see if the Crimson Tide can find a few more pieces before we reach the summer.
