In the ongoing IPL 2025, Rohit has scored 240 runs in nine innings for Mumbai Indians, averaging 30. His best knock came against Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium, where he smashed an unbeaten 76 off 45 balls to seal a dominant nine-wicket win for the MI.

Rohit Sharma says big runs don’t always win matches
Reflecting on his approach to the game, Rohit stressed that personal milestones have never been his priority. He also recalled how none of the players won the Orange Cap during all five of Mumbai Indians' IPL title triumphs, reiterating that team success matters more to him than individual records.
The Indian skipper also recalled the 2019 World Cup, where, despite being the tournament's top scorer with 648 runs, India fell short in the semifinals, so big runs alone don't guarantee team victory. The seasoned opener explained that he prefers to play aggressively in the first six overs, taking calculated risks to give his team a strong start.
Rohit signed off by saying, “Aise hi pagalon ki tarah nahi kheloonga (Won’t play like a madman the entire game). I like to take chances initially because that’s been my game for the past few years. Yes, I have not had that much success in it! But I am not too worried about it. If I start doubting myself, it gets trickier. The team has confidence in me. I have confidence in myself.”
