Tennessee continues to work the transfer portal as it seeks to shape its 2025 roster.
The Volunteers added a new defensive lineman to the room with a commitment from Division II Grand Valley State transfer Josh Schell.
Went down there on the visit and the big part for me was meeting the people on the coaching staff and just seeing what they’re about,” Schell told On3’s Volquest. “I think there’s opportunities to come to make a difference right off the rip and that’s all I’m about so just great people, great facilities, just great. You can’t say bad word about it so I think that’s what made overall decision super super easy honestly, Just come down and compete and get coached by one of the best coaches in the country play the biggest biggest level in the country.
Last season, Schell played in 13 games. The 6-5, 275-pounder recorded 35 tackles with 3 TFLs, 2 sacks, 6 pass breakups, 3 QB hurries, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery. Schell redshirted in 2022 and played in 8 games of the 2023 season, giving him 2 remaining seasons of eligibility as he enters Year 4 of his career at Tennessee.
