Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi discussed regional and international developments of mutual interest – particularly the situation in the Gaza Strip – with the Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia Sam Mostyn at the al-Ittihadiya Presidential Palace on Sunday.
Sisi stressed that Egypt harshly rejects the use of starvation as a weapon or tool of collective punishment against the Palestinian people.
The meeting reviewed Egypt’s tireless efforts towards reaching a ceasefire, exchanging the release of hostages and detainees and ensuring the entry of sufficient humanitarian aid into Gaza.
Both sides reaffirmed the necessity of reconstructing Gaza Strip in accordance with the relevant Arab-Islamic plan and moving towards achieving a two-state solution, establishing a Palestinian state in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions.
