East Bay food festival ends after 40-year run

(KRON) – An East Bay annual festival that has been around for four decades has announced it will not return. Last week, the Pittsburg Chamber of Commerce informed residents that the Pittsburg Seafood and Music Festival has seen its last year.

Wolfgang Croskey, the CEO of the Pittsburg Chamber of Commerce, said the festival has impacted the city “not just economically, but emotionally.” Croskey called the Seafood and Music Festival “a tradition that brought people together and showcased the heart of Pittsburg.”

The Chamber of Commerce explained that creating a production, such as the festival, takes a great deal for city officials. The group cited police staffing, public works, permitting, and sanitation as examples.

The demise of the festival was attributed to the lack of partnership with the city of Pittsburg. “Without a strong partnership with the City, the cost of city-required services alone makes it impossible to produce a festival that meets the standards our community expects and deserves,” said Croskey.

The Seafood and Music Festival was established in 1984.
