Caltrans reported Saturday that there was “much mud to clear still at Tuna Canyon Road. Now closed at Sunset Blvd. for better turnaround. PCH closed btwn Sunset and Carbon Beach Terrace.”
The agency said earlier Saturday that debris was blocking both directions of PCH at Topanga Canyon Boulevard, La Tuna and Big Rock. There was no access between Topanga Canyon and Carbon Beach Terrace, and all vehicles were being escorted out.
The Los Angeles City Emergency Management Department reported at 8:26 a.m. Sunday that PCH has re-opened to the same soft closure in effect since January’s wildfires and subsequent rains — that is, only open to residents with burn scar passes, contractors, emergency responders and designated Metro and school buses.
Most areas of the Southland were expected to dry out Sunday, with some showers still possible Sunday evening in North Hollywood and Sunland, forecasters said.
Mild spring weather is expected throughout the week, with highs in downtown Los Angeles reaching the low 70s Tuesday and Wednesday and staying in the 60s the rest of the week.
