Watch: Hardik Pandya gives brutal bye-bye send-off to Rishabh Pant in IPL 2025

Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Hardik Pandya came up with a brutal send-off for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain Rishabh Pant after the latter's dismissal in the 45th match of IPL 2025.

Rishabh Pant bagged another failure in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 as he failed to play a good knock against the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, April 27.

Pant has been having a terrible time in the IPL 2025, and his lean patch continued against MI. After a forgettable batting order saga in the last match, Rishabh Pant would have been hoping for a better performance against Hardik Pandya & Co., but that didn't happen.

He walked in to bat in the 7th over and after smashing a four to Will Jacks on the first ball he faced, he fell on the very next delivery.

Will Jacks bowled a tossed-up delivery to Pant, who played a reverse sweep straight into the hands of Karn Sharma at short third man.

Will Jacks went off for a celebratory run after picking the big wicket while Hardik Pandya came up with a cold act. Pandya was seen giving a 'bye-bye' send-off to Rishabh Pant.

Pant has registered scores of 0, 15, 2,2, 21, 63, 3, 0, and 4 in the ongoing season. He has an average of 12.22, which is one of the lowest averages by an IPL captain in a season.

If your skipper is having those confusions in your head, that's not good for the team - Anil Kumble

Speaking ahead of the match on ESPNCricinfo, Anil Kumble said that he was surprised by Pant batting at No.7 in the last match and all the controversy surrounding it. He elaborated:

"Yeah, I was really surprised. Because like Danny mentioned, for the times that LSG have really done well and won games, it's been the top three who have sort of done most of the damage with regard to batting performances.

"And when Pooran hasn't performed in the last game, I felt that was the right time for Rishabh. You know, maybe not necessarily at number four, but come in at around the 10th, 11th over, when you're not thinking, you're not worried about consolidating an innings there. Because that's when he sort of gets into that mold of saying, I need to play a few dot balls here.

"And that's where he gets confused. So maybe around the 11th, 12th over. But what we saw in the last game was a bit surprising, because I felt that he could have easily walked in. They sent in Abdul Samad, which is understandable. You wanted runs too. So he needs to come in and change the momentum there. That is fine. But then after that, once he got out, you felt, okay, Rishabh Pant needs to come in. But then David Miller, that's also fine. But then after that, again, an impact player. So that was really surprising."

Anil Kumble further said that he was hopeful of the confusion being sorted because a skipper of the team facing troubles is not a good sign. He said:

"So I'm hoping that all those confusions have been sort of put to rest now, because you can't have that. Yes, it's bound to happen when the mindset is not really clear. You need clarity in a T20 game. And if your skipper is having those confusions in your head, that's not good for the team."
