PATRICK MAHOMES has singled out one star who he believes will offer the Kansas City Chiefs a lot next season.
The Chiefs made the Super Bowl for the third year running in February.
However, they were denied a history-making three-peat of the title by a devastating Philadelphia Eagles start to the game which left Mahomes and Co with too much to do as they lost 40-22.
But the three-time Super Bowl MVP has singled out one team-mate who he believes look promising ahead of the new season, Rashee Rice.
Rice was leading catches in the NFL last season when he sustained a knee injury in the fourth week and missed the remainder of the year.
However, quarterback Mahomes has highlighted the Wide Receiver to have a strong year next season after seeing his displays in throwing sessions.
Speaking about Rice, via ESPN, the 29-year-old said: “The expectations are high.
“I mean, he looks really good.
“He’s running routes.
“He’s catching the football.
“I don’t know when we get back into the actual OTAs, how much he’ll be able to do, but he’s been able to do everything here, as far as running routes and everything like that.”
Rice, who was drafted by the Chiefs in 2023, is seen as one of their best weapons when available.
The 25-year-old was on pace to eclipse his numbers from his rookie season before injury curtailed any chance of that.
Mahomes reflected on the “unfortunate” injury picked up by Rice which came as a result of him accidentally tackling the wideout after throwing an interception against the Los Angeles Chargers.
He added: “And I know it was unfortunate how he got hurt last year, but it was so early in the season that he’s going to get pretty much a complete offseason, which I think will be big going into this season.”
