Saying goodbye is never easy, especially when it comes to a series with as long and storied a history as The Conners. Delighting audiences with its approachable humor and agreeable cast of characters for the last seven years, The Conners more than lived up to the acclaim set by its predecessor Roseanne throughout the late '80s and most of the 1990s.
Like all good things, though, The Conners has officially come to an end, bringing the overarching story of the working-class Illinois family to a bittersweet conclusion.
In a finale both emotional and altogether heartwarming, The Conners wrapped up its series with last Wednesday's "The Truck Stops Here," ending the sitcom's run after seven seasons.
As cathartic as it was for the viewers watching the finale at home, "The Truck Stops Here" seemed just as emotional for the show's main cast. In addition to its lengthy run on ABC, many of the actors on The Conners have faithfully portrayed their characters since the original Roseanne, returning to the roles on an-again, off-again basis for just under 40 years.
With the fan-favorite sitcom now over, The Conners' cast are speaking out about which props they kept from the finale as a keepsake.
In a recent visit to the show's set byPeople magazine, John Goodman revealed that most of the series' cast had been given a decorative quilt as a memento, although the 72-year-old Big Lebowski actor also said, "I'll probably filch something before the end of the day. Probably some wardrobe."
Emma Kenney similarly said that she had taken a prop from the series' fictional restaurant, stating, "I took a mug from The [Lanford] Lunch Box the other day. It's already in my pantry."
At the time People were interviewing the cast, Laurie Metcalf said she was eyeing several potential keepsakes at The Lobo Lounge. "I mean, I don't even have a Lobo Lounge shirt," the 69-year-old actress said. "I might take one right off the wall."
As for Sara Gilbert, the 50-year-old actress was planning on pocketing something far more sentimental, possibly "one of the old pictures of us as a kid that's up there because there's real pictures of us."
