The Indie Rock Band That’s Headlining Its Own Cruise Just Announced Its Own Festival

It’s shaping up to be a busy year for Modest Mouse. The veteran indie rock band just announced that it is headlining its own festival this September. This comes after it announced that it is headlining its own cruise.

The Psychic Salamander Festival, presented by Modest Mouse, is set for Sept. 13 and 14 in Carnation, Wash., on the family-owned Remlinger Farms, a working farm and concert space managed by the Seattle Theatre Group.

Modest Mouse and the Flaming Lips will headline both days with Courtney Barnett, Built to Spill, the Vaudevillian and Mattress rounding out the bill on Saturday.

The Sunday show will also feature Sleater-Kinney, Yo La Tengo, Friko, Sun Atoms and others.

Fans are pumped up for the festival, based on the comments they left on the band’s Instagram post. “That’s gotta be the best festival name I’ve seen yet ?” while the Vaudevillian, one of the acts on the bill, added, “Heck ya, gonna be a hoot. ??.”

The festival marks the conclusion of Modest Mouse’s co-headlining summer tour with the Flaming Lips, which begins Aug. 1 with a date at the Coca-Cola Roxy in Atlanta.

Earlier this month, the band announced the Modest Mouse Presents Ice Cream Floats cruise. The four-night journey sets sail from Miami to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic on the Norwegian Pearl Feb. 5-9, 2026.

Though Modest Mouse is headlining, they’re bringing along a lot of their indie rock friends, including Portugal, the Man, Kurt Vile and the Violators, comedian David Cross, Mannequin Pussy, Fidlar, Built to Spill and others.
