Texas has signed guard Simeon Wilcher out of the transfer portal, according to a report.
That’s per 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz, who notes that Wilcher was once a top recruit coming out of high school. He spent 2 seasons at St. John’s and was a big part of the Red Storm’s 2024-25 team that made it back to the NCAA Tournament. Wilcher averaged 8 points per game last season for St. John’s.

— Matt Zenitz (@mzenitz) April 24, 2025Wilcher originally signed with North Carolina out of high school but decommitted before the start of his freshman year. He ended up at St. John’s, where he played 64 games over the past 2 seasons under Rick Pitino.
Wilcher is the No. 102 transfer in the country for this offseason, according to 247Sports. He’s a potential starter for the Longhorns in 2025-26, but he could also end up as a valuable bench piece for Texas during Year 1 of the Sean Miller era.
Wilcher is 1 of 5 transfers Texas has signed so far this cycle. He joins a group that also includes former Purdue forward Camden Heide and former Xavier forward Dailyn Swain, amongst others. More transfers could be on the way, as Texas currently only has 1 high school player from the class of 2025.
