Watch: RR coach assaults Shimron Hetmyer during training over dropped catch, drags him on ground

A funny incident took place between Rajasthan Royals (RR) fielding coach Dishant Yagnik and batter Shimron Hetmyer during a training session ahead of the IPL 2025 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). After Hetmyer dropped a catch during practice, Yagnik pulled him along the ground by his shirt.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru are set to host Rajasthan Royals in the 42nd match of IPL 2025 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Thursday, April 24. RCB have secured five victories in eight games this season. In contrast, Rajasthan have had a tough campaign, winning two out of their eight matches so far.

In a video shared by Rajasthan Royals on X (formerly known as Twitter), Dishant Yagnik dragged Shimron Hetmyer along the ground after the batter dropped a catch during drills. The moment sparked laughter as Yagnik made it a fun and memorable incident before the upcoming game.

"Ek catch pakadta nahi hai. Seedha catch pe gir jaa raha hai (He does not take one catch. He is falling down for a straight catch)," the coach said after dragging Shimron Hetmyer along the ground.

Shimron Hetmyer Under Spotlight as Rajasthan Royals Want to Win Against RCB

Shimron Hetmyer has had a quiet season so far in IPL 2025. He has scored just 176 runs from eight matches at an average of 25.14 and a strike rate of 153.04. He scored 52 runs against the Gujarat Titans (GT). However, he has failed to finish games in his team's last two outings, raising concerns over his role as a finisher.

As RR prepare to take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the left-handed batter returns to a familiar venue at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, where he once played as an RCB player. After failing to finish the run chases in the last two games, he is under pressure to step up and make a contribution in the match.

Rajasthan Royals Suffer Four Consecutive Losses in IPL 2025

Rajasthan Royals have lost four consecutive matches and need to turn their form around to stay in contention for the playoffs. Led by Sanju Samson, they are currently in eighth place on the points table, with just four points from eight games.

The team lost their last two matches despite being in winning positions. Against Delhi Capitals, the game went into a Super Over after failing to chase nine runs in the final over. Similarly, they lost to Lucknow Super Giants in a tight finish during the last over.

RCB, meanwhile, are coming off a win against Punjab Kings and have accumulated 10 points from eight matches. All five of their victories in IPL 2025 have come away from home.

They’ve lost to Gujarat Titans, Delhi Capitals, and Punjab Kings at home. Notably, RCB secured a nine-wicket win over RR earlier this season.
