Shane Watson, David Warner, Shane Warne? Aaron Finch picks the Greatest Australian player in IPL

Aaron Finch has picked his former teammate as the greatest Australian cricketer to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) during the popular 'This or That' challenge. The former opening batter stated that Shane Watson is the greatest Australian IPL player ever, ahead of players like David Warner and Shane Warne.

Australian players have made a big impact in IPL history and contributed to title wins. Shane Watson starred in Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) 2018 triumph, David Warner led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to glory in 2016, and Shane Warne played a crucial role in Rajasthan Royals' (RR) victory in the inaugural edition.

In a video shared by ESPNcricinfo on X (formerly known as Twitter), Finch participated in a 'This or That' game. In this game, Finch had to pick the greatest Australian IPL player from the choices given to him.

The game started with Michael Hussey and Shane Warne. Finch picked Hussey over Warner and went for the left-handed batter over Shaun Marsh, Dan Christian, and Glenn Maxwell. However, he chose Travis Head over Hussey. He continued to pick Head over Adam Gilchrist, Matthew Hayden, and Ricky Ponting.

The former Australia skipper gave up on Head when Josh Hazlewood's name came up. Finch picked Hazlewood over Tim David, but it was short-lived as Mitchell Johnson was picked over him in the next round.

Finch chose Johnson over Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins before picking Shane Watson. When asked to choose between Shane Watson and David Warner, Finch took a brief pause before picking the former Chennai Super Kings all-rounder.
