Georgia is looking at another departure in the transfer portal, according to reports on Tuesday morning. The latest departure comes from the defensive back room.
According to Matt Zenitz with 247 Sports/CBS Sports, defensive back Chris Peal is opting to enter the transfer portal after 2 seasons in the program. Peal was a 4-star recruit out of North Carolina and the No. 5 player from the state in the 2023 recruiting class, per the 247 Sports Composite.
Peal made 1 tackle in his lone appearance as a true freshman for Kirby Smart before redshirting. He appeared in 4 games as a reserve defensive back in the 2024 campaign for Georgia but registered just 1 tackle.

We’ll see if he is able to land more playing time at a new destination in time for the 2025 season, but SEC football transfer rules mean Peal must head outside the conference in order to be immediately eligible this fall.
Peal becomes the 19th player to hit the portal looking to leave Athens, though the Bulldogs have 9 transfer commitments. The incoming group for Geogia ranks 22nd nationally per 247 Sports.
