Even 17-time world champion John Cena isn't immune to hateful commentary.
The pro wrestler revealed that he took some drastic measures after being inundated by negativity from his fanbase about his appearance in a new episode of The Pat McAfee Show, recently undergoing a hair transplant to treat the genetic "bald spot" on his head.
While he's not ready to show off the results just yet, Cena felt "no shame" in talking about the procedure, or its inciting incident, recalling seeing "so many 'bald spot' signs" in the crowds at his matches.
"You guys ripped me to shreds for a genetic problem that I can't control," he addressed the critics. "'Hey dude, you don't look good enough out there.' This isn't cool," he continued, noting how "[un]fair" it was to have that surrounding him while he was focusing on trying to win, calling it "straight up bullying."
But as those around him at the table complimented the look—which the public is not yet privy to—he added, "Thank you for bullying me into surgical hair replacement. That's how far y'all pushed me."
Cena underwent the procedure in November 2024, which involved having hair from the side of his head "plant[ed] in on top." In the next "couple of months," he hopes that "it looks better," but we'll all have to sit tight to see the final product.
