Coachella weekend 2 kicked off on Friday, April 18, and even though he wasn't on the initial Coachella lineup, Ed Sheeran took to the stage on Saturday, April 19, much to the delight of festival goers.
He played a daytime set at 3pm, and while fans were thrilled to see him perform, some think he got "pretty ripped off" in terms of the stage the festival stuck him on. This clip of his performance was shared on TikTok by creator @lifelanag, and as you can see, it was kind of tough for the crowd to get a good glimpse of him, given the stage setup.

The festival likely stuck Sheeran on a smaller stage simply because of logistics, and it's probably the only spot they had left. As TikTok creator "Nick Your Coachella Guide" noted, "He and Weezer were the last additions each week, so they just put them where they had room." That makes sense.
According to Just Jared, Sheeran was added to the Coachella weekend 2 lineup after other artists canceled, including FKA Twigs and Anitta.
Another fan added, "I'm sure he would've have had enough time to put on a crazy show at the main stage like people would've expected since he was added late." The OG creator replied to that comment with, "Exactly!!! We need him at Coachella, may be next year? I think he deserves being a headliner of the night!"
TikTok creator @bellanuce echoed the sentiments about the stage being too small, sharing this clip.

Despite not being given a main stage slot, The Desert Sun reports that Sheeran's performance was totally on-point, saying:
"Sheeran showed authenticity, wore his heart on his sleeve, and displayed sheer talent during his hour-long show, reminding us that he's the real deal and part of the "A Team" of musicians working today."
