A POPULAR restaurant chain has opened a new location as part of its expansion plans.
The fast food chain has around 600 locations in 15 states..
Del Taco has launched a new restaurant in the Columbus, Ohio area.
The new location is housed in the site of a former White Castle that closed in 2023.
The restaurant’s opening is part of the chain’s planned expansion in Ohio.
Del Taco first teased the project last fall with a “coming soon” sign.
The building was then repainted in the chain’s signature grey, green, and white colors.
“We’re thrilled to be part of the Powell community,” said local operating partner Kayla Hutton.
“From our craveable tacos to late-night bites and everything in between, this location is all about serving up bold flavors with fresh ingredients.
“With our Fresh Flex Design and popular seasonal seafood specials, we’re ready to become Powell’s new go-to spot for a great meal, any time of day.”
The Mexican-inspired fast-food chain is opening the new central Ohio location.
In December 2023, the chain shut down its Circleville location.
That restaurant, which originally opened in March 2021, was converted last fall into a Huey Magoo’s.
Despite the Circleville closure, Del Taco says the new Powell location is part of its broader push to expand across Ohio.
At the time of the Circleville opening, Ohio franchisee Brandi Joseph said the company was “gearing up to grow the Del Taco footprint in Ohio over the next few years.”
Other Ohio locations include one in Whitehall and a new restaurant in Marion that opened in 2023.
The Powell restaurant features a drive-thru and is open daily from 7 a.m. to 4 a.m.
Founded in 1964, the chain has nearly 600 locations across 15 states, serving Mexican-inspired fast food including tacos and burritos.
Its menu also includes traditional American fast food, such as burgers and fries, with a Mexican twist.
The chain’s signature french fry offerings include chili fries and carne asada steak fries.
The Taco Bell rival is also known for its ‘Dirty Del’ beverage, which was introduced late last year.
The drink combines Dr Pepper, vanilla shake mix, and a slice of lime.
