Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be eyeing another crucial win when they take on Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 38th game of IPL 2025. The MI vs CSK match is scheduled to be played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday (April 20).
Chennai Super Kings beat Lucknow Super Giants by five wickets in their last game to end their five-match losing streak.
It was a much-needed win for the Chennai-based outfit and has kept them in the playoffs race. Chennai Super Kings have never failed to qualify for the playoffs for two years in a row and will have to do something special to maintain that record.
The five-time IPL winners have already defeated MI once this season and will be fancying their chances again.
Chennai Super Kings have also won their last five games against MI and will be hopeful of maintaining that run. As Chennai Super Kings gears up for the important match, we are taking a look at the CSK Playing 11.
CSK Playing 11 vs Mumbai Indians- IPL 2025, Match 38:
Shaik Rasheed and Rachin Ravindra are set to be the openers in the CSK Playing 11 for the upcoming match. Rasheed made his IPL debut in the last game and hit the ground running. He scored 27 runs with the help of six fours and will look to impress with the bat again.
Ravindra, on the other hand, scored 37 runs off 22 balls and will be eyeing a big score in the next game. The Chennai Super Kings openers added 52 runs for the first wicket in the last game, and the team will be hoping for another strong start from them.
Middle-order: Rahul Tripathi/Deepak Hooda, Vijay Shankar, Ravindra Jadeja, Jamie Overton, MS Dhoni (c & wk)
Rahul Tripathi could make way for Deepak Hooda in the CSK Playing 11 after his repeated failures with the bat this season. Even in the last game, the right-handed batsman failed to impress with the bat. He scored just 9 runs and is now at risk of losing his place in the CSK Playing 11.
If Tripathi gets another chance with the bat, he will be under immense pressure to deliver. Another failure with the bat is likely to see him lose his place in the team for the remainder of the season.
Vijay Shankar did not have the best of outings with the bat either in the last game. The Tamil Nadu allrounder was out for just 9 runs at a crucial juncture of the game and will be keen to make amends in the upcoming match.
Shivam Dube is set to be used as an Impact Player once again. The left-handed batsman top-scored for CSK in the last game, scoring an unbeaten 43 to take the team home. He will be keen to deliver with the bat again, especially at a venue that is his home ground in domestic cricket.
Ravindra Jadeja and Jamie Overton are set to be the main allrounders in the CSK Playing 11. Jadeja picked up 2 wickets but scored only 7 runs, while Overton conceded 24 runs in 2 overs without taking a wicket and did not get the chance to bat.
MS Dhoni delivered a Player of the Match performance in the last game and will look to lead the team from the front again. After impressing as a wicketkeeper, he scored an unbeaten 26 off just 11 balls to take his team home.
Bowlers: Anshul Kamboj, Noor Ahmad, Khaleel Ahmed, Matheesha Pathirana
The CSK Playing 11 is likely to have three pacers and one spinner. Anshul Kamboj, Khaleel Ahmed, and Matheesha Pathirana are set to be the three pacers, while Noor Ahmad is expected to be the spinner. Overton and Jadeja are the other bowling options.
Pathirana picked up 2 wickets in the last game while Kamboj and Khaleel claimed one wicket each. Noor did not take any wickets but bowled a decisive spell, conceding only 13 runs in his 4 overs.
