OLIVIA Dunne announced her decision on her gymnastics career in an emotional social media post.
The 22-year-old LSU gymnast and social media star shared the announcement after her school lost in the NCAA semifinals.
The Tigers finished third in the competition and couldn’t earn a trip to the national championship for a third straight time.
On Thursday night, Dunne revealed that her time as a gymnast has come to an end.
“(Piece sign emoji) out gymnastics it’s been real… and of course forever LSU! (purple heart emoji),” she wrote on X.
Dunne’s gymnastics career has finished after being a popular gymnast since arriving at Baton Rouge.
The New Jersey native’s creativity on social media has led to her accumulating an astounding 13 million-plus followers between TikTok and Instagram.
Dunne also has experience as a model.
She made her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit debut in 2023.
Dunne was also one of the highest-paid NIL earners, as she had a $4.1 million evaluation by On3.
The influencer received sponsorship deals with Crocs, American Eagle Outfitters, Grubhub, ESPN, and Nautica, among others.
Dunne also linked up with NFL star Travis Kelce to promote the Accelerator energy drink.
But she also contributed to LSU’s first-ever national championship in 2024, averaging a 9.857 score on the floor exercise.
Unfortunately, Dunne suffered injuries during her last few collegiate years.
Dunne still powered through and was able to return to LSU for a fifth year in the 2024-25 season.
She has also been popular in Pittsburgh as she’s the girlfriend of Pirates superstar pitcher Paul Skenes, who’s a fellow LSU tiger.
Dunne and Skenes' summer of love
Olivia Dunne and Paul Skenes managed to keep their relationship a secret before finally going public in the summer of 2023.
The pair met at LSU, but it’s not clear when they started dating.
Rumors of a romance began when Dunne watched LSU win the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.
And Dunne then posted selfies from Fort Myers in Florida, where Skenes was playing.
He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates and began his pro career by playing in minor leagues in the Sunshine State.
The final clue came when Dunne posed in a Pirates cap before the pair finally went public.
Dunne regularly attends Pirates games and posts content concerning her flame-throwing MLB boyfriend, who won the 2024 Rookie of the Year Award.
When it comes to her life after gymnastics, Dunne told The New York Post that she wants to continue to work for SI Swim and help other women reap the rewards of their NIL potential thanks to her Livvy Fund at LSU.
“Girls don’t know where to start,” Dunne told the outlet in 2024.
“Because that’s sometimes half the battle.
“And it’s very important to capitalize on your NIL while you’re in college if you’re a female, because there’s not a lot of professional leagues after college for most women’s sports.
