While the fans were eagerly waiting to see another impactful knock from Karun Nair in the ongoing IPL 2025, the right-handed batsman was run out for a duck in the ongoing game between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
The out-of-favour India batsman made his much-awaited return to the IPL in Delhi Capitals' last game against Mumbai Indians. It was his first match in the IPL since 2022.
Karun Nair had to warm the bench for the first four games of the season, and he got a chance in the playing eleven for the fifth match only because of an injury to Faf du Plessis.
Karun grabbed the opportunity with both hands and delivered one of the best batting performances of this season.
He smashed a 22-ball fifty and went on to score 89 runs off just 40 balls. His knock was studded with 12 fours and 5 sixes. It was also his first fifty in the IPL since 2018.

Karun Nair out for a duck:
Karun Nair became the talk of the town for his stunning knock on his comeback, and the cricketing world was eagerly waiting for his next innings. However, the fans were left utterly disappointed as the former Karnataka batsman was run out even before he could open his account against the Rajasthan Royals.
He walked out to bat in the third over of the innings after Jake Fraser-McGurk was dismissed by Jofra Archer. And his stay at the crease came to an end in the fourth over due to the run-out.
On the first ball of the fourth over, bowled by Sandeep Sharma, Abishek Porel inside edged the pull shot onto his thigh pad, and the ball ran away towards the point region. Nair set off for a quick single straightaway and was already halfway down the pitch when Porel sent him back.
In the meantime, Wanindu Hasaranga picked up the ball and threw it towards the non-striker's end. Sandeep casually collected the ball in front of the stumps but was quick to turn back and throw the ball at the stumps. The replays showed that Sandeep was quick enough to catch Nair short of his crease.
