IREDELL COUNTY (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Early Wednesday morning, emergency crews responded to a boat collision on Lake Norman that injured one person.
The incident occurred around 7:16 a.m. near the Lake Norman Campground. According to the Iredell County Sheriff's Office, two boats were involved in the crash.
Emergency Medical Services, the Sheriff's Department, and local fire personnel responded to the scene. One person sustained injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Their condition and identity have not yet been released.
North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission personnel are leading the investigation into the cause of the collision, according to the Iredell County Sheriff's Office.
The National Professional Fishing League is hosting its North Carolina tournament stop between April 16-18 on Lake Norman. Increased boat traffic was expected. No word if the two boats involved in Wednesday's accident were participating in the tournament at this time.
