Georgia expected to add veteran defensive assistant with SEC experience, per report

Georgia will reportedly add a veteran defensive assistant with SEC experience to Kirby Smart‘s staff.

Per Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports/247Sports, Jimmy Brumbaugh is expected to join the Georgia football staff. Zenitz’s report does not specify Brumbaugh’s title with the Bulldogs.

Brumbaugh, 48, is well-traveled with plenty of SEC experience. He played at Auburn from 1995-99. He was a second-team All-SEC lineman in 1996 and then made first-team all-conference in 1997. Brumbaugh played professional football from 2000-03 before getting into coaching.

Brumbaigh was a strength and conditioning assistant at LSU in 2006 and the 2007 season when the Tigers won a national championship. His next SEC gig came at Kentucky, where he coached the defensive line from 2013-16.

In 2020, Brumbaugh returned to the SEC, joining the Tennessee staff as co-defensive coordinator and defensive line coach. After a stop at Oregon in 2021, he coached defensive line at Auburn for 2022.

The past 2 seasons, Brumbaugh was defensive line coach at Coastal Carolina.
