TEMPE — With Patrick Peterson’s retirement as an Arizona Cardinal on Monday, it didn’t take long for those to wonder when his Ring of Honor induction would be coming next.
But while owner Michael Bidwill has already told Peterson that he is in line for the ROH nod, the cornerback has one big request.

“I know I cannot go before (Larry Fitzgerald),” Peterson said Monday. “I did tell (Bidwill) that. I do not want to go before Fitzy. So, whenever that happens, it’ll be after him.”
How long did Patrick Peterson and Larry Fitzgerald play together?
Peterson and Fitzgerald spent 10 seasons in Arizona together.
Both played their final season for the franchise in 2020.

“What an unbelievable journey it’s been to be able to watch you from Day 1,” Fitzgerald said in a video message honoring Peterson during his retirement ceremony. “You always brought class, energy, leadership, greatness to every team that you played on.
“Your plays always inspired me. Still to this day, I think of that punt return walk-off touchdown against the Rams. Moments like that really defined who you were as a player.”
Peterson went on to play for the Minnesota Vikings (2021-22) and Pittsburgh Steelers (2023) before calling it a career with the Cardinals on Monday.
Fitzgerald, meanwhile, hasn’t suited up since 2020 but has yet to officially announce his retirement.
Although he hasn’t officially retired, the wide receiver will become eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame next year, having been off an NFL roster for five years.
After not playing last year, Peterson is eligible for the 2029 class.
