Former Team India batter Kris Srikkanth has lauded MS Dhoni for his performance in Chennai Super Kings (CSK)'s win against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Srikkanth stated that MS Dhoni showcased his calm and commanding presence on the field, adding that it is the beginning of a resurrection.
MS Dhoni became the captain of Chennai Super Kings after Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out of the tournament due to an elbow injury before their match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). They suffered a heavy loss to KKR in Dhoni's first game as captain. However, he led CSK to victory in the following match.
Krishnamachari Srikkanth described the victory as more than just a win, adding that it is the start of a resurgence for the team. He highlighted that Dhoni's calm and commanding presence was crucial to their success.
"What a win for @ChennaiIPL! Dhoni proves once again why he's called Thala- not just for his performance, but for the calm, commanding way he led his troops. This isn’t just a victory… it feels like the beginning of a resurrection. The roar is back on Tamil Newyear!," Srikkanth wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).

CSK were in need of a victory after losing their last five matches and finding themselves at the bottom of the IPL 2025 points table. They remain at the bottom despite beating LSG, but the win keeps their slim hopes of reaching the playoffs alive.
