(FOX40.COM) -- A shooting in Stockton left at least six people shot, according to city officials.
"6 people shot in District 6 - broad daylight near Edison High," said Stockton Vice Mayor Jason Lee. "I drove by and (saw) all these kids outside. Stockton what’s really going on?"
Around 2:10 p.m., the Stockton Police Department responded to the 500 block of W MLK Boulevard for reports of a shooting. When officers arrived at the scene they discovered six men were shot.
"This saddens me to see these heartless acts happen so frequently that it’s become normal. It’s not normal," Lee said. "No amount of police are going to shift the mentality that every life matters. And every death causes pain that people act out on."
SPD closed down westbound Charter Way from Turnpike to I-5 and Eastbound Charter Way from I-5 to Lincoln to investigate the shooting. All of the victims were taken to a local hospital where police said they are expected to survive.
Friday's mass shooting comes two days after two teens were shot in Stockton.
Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
