AARON Rodgers was not present at Pat McAfee’s “Big Night Aht” live event on Wednesday night.
McAfee hosted a special show from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and many fans thought Rodgers could make a cameo at the event.
Rodgers is notably in deep contract talks with the Pittsburgh Steelers to become their new quarterback, and fans thought he could announce his decision in the Steel City in front of the fans.
However, McAfee quickly made it known that there would be no appearance from Rodgers at the show.
He made an effort to lower fans’ expectations as the event approached, but that didn’t do too much to calm the Pittsburgh faithful.
By the time the show rolled around, McAfee immediately put his foot down and let the crowd know that there would be no Rodgers sighting.
“He’s not here,” McAfee said.
Rodgers never showed his face at the event and it is still a mystery when or if he will ever sign with the Steelers.
No one really knows what is the holdup with Rodgers putting pen to paper in Pittsburgh.
NBC Sports’ Mike Florio suggested that Rodgers could be waiting to see if the Steelers draft a quarterback in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Steelers president Art Rooney said in the league meetings last week that he would be willing to a “little while longer” on Rodgers’ decision.
However, he did acknowledge that he didn’t expect the process to take this long.
It seems that the Steelers are trying to push the process along by meeting with draft prospects in the coming days.
They currently have two meetings scheduled with Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders and Syracuse’s Kyle McCord.
Sanders has slowly but surely slid down NFL Draft boards, and it is a growing possibility that he could be available with the No. 21 pick.
It is also possible that the Steelers could trade up into the 10s to ensure no other teams snag Sanders.
Sanders had a good year for Colorado, passing for 4,134 yards with 37 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
McCord is more of a late-round possibility for the Steelers.
They are meeting with the Syracuse quarterback for an official visit next week.
He had a great 2024 season, passing for 4,779 yards with 34 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
McCord is expected to be a Day 3 draft pick.
