On paper, the players of Survivor 48 had made it through the limbo state of "mergatory," and could next look forward to making the next stage of the game: The jury. But the CBS reality series threw another curveball their way, utilizing a "new era" staple of splitting up the dozen castaways into two groups. The split culminated in an epic record-breaking showdown between two challenge titans, and a decision for both mini-"tribes" between an easy outsider vote, and making a big move to kick off the next phase.Check out spoilers about tonight's episode below and find out who was voted out.Related: Everything to Know About Survivor 48
Who got voted off on Survivor 48 tonight?
Saiounia “Sai” HughleyRobert Voets/CBS
Saiounia "Sai" Hughley
By the end of her time in the game, there was a lot to say about Sai. From her first moment of the season to her last, Sai was consistent in the way she regarded the other people playing alongside her, being blunt, honest, and not afraid to mince words. Her demeanor put her in a perennial state of hot water with her competition, seen as someone too chaotic or scattered. But she was able to evade elimination every single time, whether it was due her idol or her complicated relationship with Cedrek. By the time Sai hit the merge, she had mended fences with her previous rival, Mary. But she had earned many more in the process who felt she was too erratic to work with. After getting nearly half the votes against her in the previous round, Sai yet again found her back against the wall. But she did what she was known best for during her two weeks on Survivor 48: Fighting. Unfortunately, after an afternoon of trying to pitch Mitch to everyone else, the appeal to not have Sai sit on the jury was too appealing to resist. Sai had gone from strongarming a near-unanimous vote in her first Tribal Council to going out unanimously in her sixth.
Cedrek McFaddenRobert Voets/CBS
If you were to take a look at the variety of personalities of the Survivor 48 cast, you would imagine that Cedrek would have the steady, cool personality that is required of his job as a surgeon. Who would have thought, however, that he would become one of the most cutthroat players of the season? Early on, Cedrek found himself in the middle of the chaos that was Vula. And he himself contributed to the chaos in a historic Tribal Council, choosing to flip his vote at the very last minute to send his closest ally Justin home. When Cedrek was swapped over to Civa, he sought new relationships and a way to start over. But the chaos came for him once again, as he flipped the game on Bianca at the last second after she told him he didn't have a vote. Due to what happened in the premerge, Cedrek didn't have many people in his corner when the individual game hit (highlighted when Sai, one of his closest allies, voted against him for writing her name down previously). And that lack of relationships bit the colorectal surgeon in the butt, as he became the easy consensus boot to kick off the jury.
Yes! Mitch finally made use of the "Block-a-Vote" advantage he got on the journey in Episode 2. He chose to block Sai's vote, meaning she could neither vote nor use her Shot in the Dark.Related: Meet the Full Cast of Survivor 48
